For: Festivals - Schools - Cultural Centres – Embassies – Special Events

Option A - An unplugged and intimate Canada.

45 minutes, 15 minute question period.

Setting - Festival, workshop or classroom : G.S. MacLeod in a classroom setting. In this option the goal is to elaborate on the content on the music, historical figures and themes in an intimate setting and promote discourse between the performer, audience and or students. Storyboards are handed to the audience and or students in a effort to highlight elements of each song. Instruments include : Guitar, hand drum, and harmonica. This show deals with an overview of Canadian and First Nations history.

Rate $500.00 negotiable as per requirements

Option B – A Brief Canadian History I - The First People to Confederation.

45 minute multi media music performance, 15 minute question period and give away.

Setting – Cultural centres, embassies, music festivals and special events.

Three musicians and one technician to operate digital projector, followed by an optional question period and t-shirt and CD give away. Instruments include: acoustic and electric guitar, harmonica, sax, bodhran, Native drum and a variety of percussion. This show deals with the first peoples of Canada, the arrival of the first Europeans and confederation years.

Option C – A Brief Canadian History II - From Confederation to Present.

45 minute multi media music performance

Setting – Cultural centres, embassies, music festivals and special events.

Three musicians and one technician to operate digital projector. Instruments include: acoustic and electric guitar, harmonica, sax, bodhran, Native drum and a variety of percussion. This show deals with an overview of the post confederation years to present day Canada.

Rate $1000.00 negotiable as per requirements

Option D– De la Nouvelle France à nos jours.

Spectacle multi-média musique de 45 minutes

Cadre: Centres culturels, ambassades, festivals de musique et événements spéciaux.

Trois musiciens et un technicien opérant le projecteur numérique. Les instruments: guitares acoustique et électriques, harmonica, saxophone, bodhran, tambours indigènes et une variété d'instruments à percussion. La performance en français commémore l'arrivée des français en Nouvelle-France, des premiers colons aux filles du roi, en relevant divers événements de notre histoire et célébrant les grands personnages qui ont contribué à créer la société franco-nord-américaine de maintenant, des acadiens aux patriotes, en passant par Louis Riel, Nelligan, Maurice Richard et René Lévesque. Ce spectacle souligne la contribution du peuple français en Amérique du Nord.

Option D– De la Nouvelle France à nos jours.

Tarif $1000.00 négociable selon les conditions

Setting – Cultural centres, embassies, music festivals and special events.

Three musicians and one technician to operate digital projector. Instruments include: acoustic and electric guitar, harmonica, sax, bodhran, Native drum and a variety of percussion. This is a special performance all in French and deals with the arrival of the French in the New World, the first colonists, les filles du roi, celebrating the great figures who have contributed in creating franco North-America, Les Acadiens, Les Patriotes, Louis Riel, Nelligan, Maurice Richard, Réné Lévesques etc....this show highlights the French contributions to North America.

Option E– Between Friends songs that link Canada to the United States.

45 minute multi media music performance

Setting – Cultural centres, embassies, music festivals and special events.

Three musicians and one technician to operate digital projector. Instruments include: acoustic and electric guitar, harmonica, sax, bodhran, Native drum and a variety of percussion. This is a special performance that deals with events that link Canada and the United States, such as the Underground Railway, Deported Acadians, The Bluenose, The Gold Rush, Jackie Robinson etc... this performance is a celebration of our shared histories.

Rate $1500.00 USD negotiable as per requirements

*Performances can be performed with a First Nations cultural worker or story-teller. I have given these artists complete freedom of artistic expression within the theme of the shows to bring part of their cultural tradition to the performance. I feel the artistic trust that this gesture implies also increases the potential for a unique and personal start to every performance and introduces the audience to part of the community they may have little understanding about.

• Note: This would require an additional honorarium $100.00

*A Brief Canadian History does not cover travel costs outside the island of Montreal.
